The Dog Transformation System

“OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE DOG TRAINING PROGRAMS THAT RESULT IN A HAPPY, CONFIDENT, AND OBEDIENT DOG, AS WELL AS A HAPPY, CONFIDENT, AND SATISFIED OWNER.”

Sit Means Sit Central Albuquerque provides dog training to fit you & your lifestyle!

At Sit Means Sit Dog Training, we take great pride in our ability to transform the behavior of any dog of any age who is struggling with any problem. Whether you have a new puppy who is struggling with chewing issues or an older dog with reactivity and leash-pulling issues, we offer a system with a long track record of transforming behavior. Our goal is to create a reliable, happy, confident family pet who obeys reliably in any situation. This requires training your pet through a variety of stimulating real-world situations. Whether you need basic puppy training or dream of one day having a therapy dog, our training system is the life-changing solution you've been looking for.

All of our training programs are designed with the goal of crafting real-world obedience. Dogs need to not only have obedience, but to be able to exercise that behavior when squirrels are running past. Our training sessions build on this concept, equipping your pet with new knowledge and concepts that they can access in their day-to-day lives. We offer one-on-one training. From puppy classes (starting when your pup is fully vaccinated) to adult dog training.

Our training includes off-leash training and aggression management. When your dog graduates, we want them to be a reliable family pet that you can take shopping, to the local restaurant patio, and even on the bus.

We also offer group classes and continuing education to help your dog continue to master these critical lessons until they become second nature.

TRAINING & SERVICES

Private Lessons

Our lessons are conducted one-on-one with your dog, giving them the experience and training they need. We've found a rhythm of training, play, and rest are key for rapid transformation. These private lessons are conducted as part of our day-train program. With these convenient programs, the owner drops the dog off at the start of day and then picks them up at night. These programs are designed to fit your family's active lifestyle.

Board & Train Programs

The core of our program is our hands-free board and training programs. With these programs, your dog can come live with our staff for an intensive and transformative experience. Our expert behavior specialists work one-on-one with your dog, maximizing their time with them and giving you a completely transformed animal when you come to pick them up. When you want a pet that will garner compliments everywhere you go, our board and train program is designed to create that experience for you.

BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION TRAINING

In addition to our training programs, we can train your dog or pup to overcome specific behaviors and emotions for a happier, healthier dog.

Aggressive

An aggressive dog can cause difficulties when trying to incorporate them into your daily life, and can create stress and strain for everyone in your household. Often these behaviors stem from factors like inadequate socialization, fear, stress, or negative past experiences. Working collaboratively, you and your trainer can address and resolve some of these behavioral…

High Anxiety/Fear

Whether it’s a fear of strangers, other dogs, or separation from their owner, it can be incredibly challenging to train an anxious dog. Our trainers will work closely with you and your pup to gradually increase their comfort zone through positive experiences, building your dog’s confidence in a safe and productive way. Signs of Anxiety…

High-Destraction

Does your dog bolt the second they see a squirrel, person, or another dog across the street? These distractions are unavoidable in the real world, which is why our trainers focus and specialize in high-distraction training. With consistency, we can help direct your dog’s focus to you in any situation when distractions arise….

Off-Leash

If you aspire to enjoy the freedom of having your dog off-leash while exploring your favorite trails or during camping adventures, off-leash training could be a perfect fit for you and your furry companion. Off-leash training is distinct from obedience, although skills such as recall are the foundation of off-leash training. Our trainers will begin…

Reactive

A reactive dog overreacts to normal situations that other dogs would take in stride. They become overstimulated easily and may bark, lunge, and growl at something as simple as another dog or person walking on the other side of the street. Attention to training is extremely important, as reactivity can turn into aggression. The cause…

Socialization

Socialization with dogs, humans, and other animals is a great way to ensure a well-mannered and confident dog. The best time to socialize is between 10-16 weeks of age, but not all dogs get to experience socialization as a puppy. A lot of rescue dogs enter their new homes without proper socialization, which can put…

OUR REVIEWS

We met with Sit Means Sit within 3 weeks of adopting our male Rottie rescue, who was guestimated to be between 1-2 yrs old, because we knew that at 97 pounds (and growing) he would need to learn some manners/boundaries. We have been training with them now for several months and they have taught him and us more than we expected. It’s more than just manners – he looks to us for direction on any exercise and we learn how to give him the right direction for what we want him to do. He loves all the trainers there and gets excited to go to group training sessions! In the time we’ve been there, the program has progressed to include more advanced exercises, and the facility itself has been upgraded. We’ve had other Rottie rescues that we’ve trained, and our best experience has been here.

-Shelly C.

This is fantastic training! I was desperate after trying other dog training and none worked for Milo and me. I found Sit means Sit and decided to invest in what I knew was my last hope. It is SO worth the investment! I love the group classes you get to join after the all-day lessons! The group classes really help you bond more with your pup while working on new tricks! Milo had aggressive behavior on leash and we have grown so much since the first day! Milo is also people shy but he loves the trainer! If you put in the work at home and come to the group classes then you will get the well trained pup you always imagined you could have! The staff gives 100% and it has helped me and milo be more confident together! Can’t wait to keep moving forward!

Although the veterinary tech work is rewarding and interesting, working with solely dogs is her true passion and training dogs has been a dream come true. She finds that training dogs is not only fun and challenging, but also very rewarding in so many ways. It is always such a joy to see dogs and their owner’s relationship become stronger and happier after they go through training together. She has seen many success stories in her 7+ years at Sit Means Sit, and it is a such an honor to be a part of it all. One of the most rewarding parts of training dogs has been getting to be part of the Therapy Dog Team. Working closely with the community is always enjoyable and she is excited for what the future holds.

Andrea has 4 dogs who have all been trained by Sit Means Sit, 2 of which are her business partners. Landry is a 6 year old Belgian Malinois mix, and has been Andrea’s business partner for 5 years.

She is one of the main faces you will see at our facility and out in the community. She loves meeting new people and getting as many belly rubs as possible!

Diggs is a 1 year old Belgian Malinois, who came to Andrea from a rescue in El Paso, Texas. Diggs has been working as Andrea’s business partner for 6 months and it is exciting to watch her learn and discover all of her talents! She is a fun one for sure! Andrea looks forward to continue working with her and watch her grow and learn. Andrea loves spending time with 5 her children, who range in age from 27-14 years old, and 2 grandkids who bring so much joy to her! She also enjoys watching Dallas Cowboys football, listening to music, going to concerts, being outdoors, and of course training her dogs!

OUR REVIEWS

Check out our reviews to hear directly from our customers and their experience!

I have a German Shepherd with very strong herding instincts. So strong that several years ago, at 18 months old, she jumped out of our truck to herd elk and disappeared for 5 days. This put her at risk of being hunted and killed by mountain lions. I was fearful every time I put her on a leash since she would pull and lunge at the wildlife. Two years ago my brother referred me to Sit Means Sit. The trainers at Sit Means Sit did an excellent job at helping me to control that instinct. Now I can hike and instead of herding the elk and deer, she watches them and listens to me, even without a leash. We continued to use their doggie daycare and overnight stays because they “know” and understand dog behaviors.

-A G

We knew we needed help when our daughter said that Greta, our mini schnauser must be on meth. After a two week stay with Sit Means Sit with intensive and positive training she sits on quiet command. She came home a calm sweet girl, still playful but on our terms. She cuddles without jumping around. Very responsive to commands. Absolutely love entire staff, always kind and responsive to our questions and requests. Great at training humans as well. Ongoing support is beyond anything imagined. THANK YOU TEAM.
